If you work in an Office with 6 other developers. Everyone is involved almost in every project. When I now look into the code I have 6 different "handwriting".
Although there are a directive like the code look would have. But as it happens with policies. That are there to not to be complied with. :-)
How can the developers are now supported to comply with very simple policy? Or how to get I always the same, or at least similar, "Signature" I at least at home?
The keyword is: code style enforcer
However, the Web page is not quite up to date. Code style enforcer based on DXCore devexpress. Earlier could you download DXCore individually, today it is only with an application. DXCore is included in this.
Now we proceed as follows. On the pages of devexpress to load CodeRush down. Easy 30 day version. Then install the software. Just watch that you installed the DXCore.
Now even the code style enforcer must be obtained. It is also installed.
When you first start Visual Studio, you get served up a few questions. Simply OK clickthrough.
What I now still not mentioned. The tool works with the IDesign c# has defined the rules. This is a PDF with a few pages where the essential is simply defined. Very easy.
But now it can go.
If what's wrong simply red underline the code.
Thus, everyone knows where an error must be corrected. On the shortcut menu is proposed even how it could be corrected.
Methods exactly the same. If the mouse is set to "Error" a PopUp displays which should be corrected.
Can thus easily and way ensure the some basic rules will be respected. Not a developer can out speak up then. :-)
An appropriate infrastructure, the problem can be tackled probably different. Times I assume that there are tools environments that would consider when checking in on coding guidelines. But with us that is not the case. Therefore, the solution is already very useful. Private naturally.
The rules can also be customized. Under start > programs > code style Enforcer-> Configurator can make some adjustments to the rules.
