My blog on BlogEngine.NET has been running for some time. I am so far very pleased. BlogEngine.NET runs very stable and fast. To my old blog that ran on dasBlog, migrate, I had to rebuild some add-ins. I did a lot in the dasBlog himself and had to work with BlogEngine.NET.
On the Internet at RTUR.NET, there are some very good posts on the subject of extension for BlogEngine.NET.
Part 1, part 2, part 3 and part 4, and a few more.
I stumbled but nowhere on a guide that one shows how to get to the source code of BlogEngine.NET. BlogEngine.NET is hosted on CodePlex. It was quite cumbersome locally to synchronize the source code from CodePlex. Since SVN is assisted on CodePlex but it's much more fun.
I'm also assuming that you (you should create so much I know extensions also) can deal with Visual Studio Express or SharpDevelop.
So, here step by step.
- You first chick you TortoiseSVN.
You will find an article about the tool even at Wikipedia. You can find the downloads here. Best download you even the corresponding Sprachpacket down.
- Then you install TortoiseSVN.
There not much to say. First TortoiseSVN, then a system restart may and then you install the Sprachpacket. Possibly even a restart after the Sprachpacket is necessary.
- Now create a new folder that you for example BlogEngine call.
- There should be a menu item named "SVN Auschecken…" now in the context menu of the folder.
The click.
- On the CodePlex project web page for BlogEngine.NET you will find in the source code the URL that you have to enter in the now appearing dialog.
You will need to take the "subversion URL".
- Now a click on OK and you may be amazed.
It takes a moment and then you have the current source code on your own PC.

- After the download, the directory should look like this.
- Now a double click on the "BlogEngine.sln" and it can go.
Perhaps you will still noted that project of a source code is subject to management. I select then "Remove permanent" always the point in the dialogue.
Now is your imagination.
