dasBlog2BlogEngine.NET

by Roland Schumacher alias GENiALi 16. April 2009 -- 437 words  -- 1 mal gelesen

It is / was so far. I liked no longer dasBlog . I was now over years with dasBlog. Any how the are no concept behind the thing and some other Blogengins just keep and innovative.

That is why I am switched to BlogEngine.NET . That is developed using c#, most can be stored in a SQL DB and it has an add-in framework. They call it extensions. This makes a lot easier if you want to extend BlogEngine.NET.

OK. How expired the migration now.

  1. Download the Web files.
  2. All install and Configure. On that, I go one here not closer.
  3. Download the dasBlog from the Web server. The folder content and the images are important.
  4. The tool "dasBlog <-> BlogML" to download.
  5. With the tool in step 4, create a BlogML file.
  6. All images from the blog posts are copied to "App_Data\files\".
    So everything from "dasBlogROOT\images\Bilder" and, in any case I still everything from "dasBlogROOT\content\binary\WindowsLiveWriter". Looks then like this.

  7. Then open the BlogML file that you created. I do this with Visual Studio. Adjust all paths to the images in the file. Otherwise they will not appear. Any how logical. This is the easiest way with "find and replace".
    So something here...

    ... you have to replace now makes sense.
    I have the following now made two "search and replace".
    1. http://blog.geniali.ch/images/Bilder/ -> ~/image.axd?picture=
    2. http://blog.geniali.ch/content/binary/WindowsLiveWriter/ -> ~/image.axd?picture=
  8. Then, you can import the BlogML file. BlogEngine.Net has settings in the registry, all at the bottom, a section "import & export". This is a ClickOnce tool which can be such BlogML files importiren. Simply adjust the information. Please note, for me the import took a whole moment without that, what did. So have a little patience.
    What I The tool works only if BlogEngine.NET on "http://localhost" runs. As soon as the port there is, so what here "http://localhost:49218", doesn't the import.
    Anything else II: If I in "destination information" click on validate, then only a post is imported with the import. Then comes the message that the import is finished. What's wrong.
    When I reboot the tool, enter everything and click never to validate, then everything is imported correctly. I think that tool is still quite...
    Anything else III: If it still does not want, an IISRESET can do no harm.

  9. Then it should look something like this. :-) Not exactly the same, but it posts should be available.

If you are so far white man at least that one his old postings can import. Anyone who wants to can build yet an own theme. But please note, you can invest very, very much time at work. But it sure is fun and there are unique. :-)
