I've allowed me a bit more memory for the laptop. From 2 GB to 4 GB. At the performance index doesn't change. The weakest link in the performance index is still the memory.
Some time ago I changed but the hard drive. From a 160 GB with 5 '400 k on a 320 GB with 7' 200 k Wau, that real worlds. It was much faster. Noticeably faster. But thats over now again. You lived so quickly because...:-)
But here you can get a precise measurement with the old hard drive (FUJITSU).
A maximum of 49.2 MB / s with an access time of 18.1 ms. Not very exhilarating.
But now the new (WD WD320).
A maximum of 85 MB / s. Since the post goes off a little different. Access times are not so exhilarating. You will notice the difference between the plates but extremely well.
Now you should try a SSD disk. The transfer rate should be there even much better. That would have to break through on the perceived performance. You are currently still much too expensive.
