Half a year Windows Vista without antivirus

Six months ago I setup my laptop again. I decided not for Windows XP but for the supplied Windows Vista SP1. I asked me at the time, really need a virus scanner?

My laptop behind an ADSL router. It (almost) no ports are open from the outside. Thus, a beetle can capture I actually just down the road "Setup" or "Surfing". I read a on this game.

Now, six months later, I wanted to just know whether I've captured what to me.

In the current C't is a DVD with an "emergency Windows 2009". It is based on Windows Vista and you can get it from CD/DVD or USB stick start. However, it must be created first. Similar to BART's PE Builder solution with Windows XP. I have built the USB version. Worked on by the way anhieb.

It has two virus scanners (AntiVir personal and G DATA antivirus 2009 spec) and a spyware tool (SpyBot Search and destroy) on the emergency Windows. I have the tools all updated online and run.

Result: No viruses, Trojans, no rootkits, a few "unwanted" cookies.

I'm much on the Internet. Google is my friend. Since I rank in the search again on pages where I want not / wanted. But caught I still nothing.

I am of course but all updates that would like to install MS with me. :-) The funny Vista firewall is turned on and the still komischere Windows Defender thing even running.

For what do I need there is a virus scanner?

But as it happens, tomorrow I will catch a virus me. And just because I have given here. Oh well.
